Trip to Kansas - June 2010

Connor and I took a trip to Kansas after school was FINALLY out to see my family! Connor hadn't seen his Grammie and Grangran (Hays Grandparents) since Christmas so we were definitely in need of a visit! We enjoyed a week of relaxing, spending time with the grandparents, playing, swimming, and meeting new friends!

Connor's Blood Pressure

Well, we are happy Connor's heart is healthy now we just have to figure out why his blood pressure is so crazy! He continues to go to the doctor weekly, sometimes every other week to monitor his blood pressure. He also takes two blood pressure medications to control it. They have started the long process of weaning him off one of the meds. We are hopeful this will happen sometime before he's 2! He will continue to see the Kidney Specialist/Hypertension Specialist every 6 months until they figure out his blood pressure. This is our last hurdle and I am sure it will be a tough one! We are confident that they will figure it out or at least get his meds down. In the meantime, we are thankful for our pediatrician and nurse whom we have gotten to know VERY well! They are optimistic and love Connor which makes the weekly appointments easier!

Connor's Heart

Connor is such a happy boy that it's hard to believe he's been through all he has in just one year! We went to Little Rock on May 14th for his 1 year post heart surgery appointment. We have been waiting for this appointment for a long time!!! They were finally rerunning the heart tests to make sure his aorta repair was holding up and to see if further surgery or ballooning would be necessary. We were very nervous but anxious to get it over with!! We were told to not allow Connor to eat 4 hours prior to his appointment because they would sedate him......he actually did very well! And turns out they didn't even sedate him!! Which was good because we were able to drive home the same day. We did have to restrain him and he let us know LOUD and clear that he was not happy about that! All of his tests turned out fabulous! His aorta shows no signs of narrowing and his heart looks completely healthy!!! Whew! We are so thankful for this news! He will now see the cardiologist every year instead of every 3 months! Yay!

Wildlife Drive Through Safari

While The Sullivans were here, we decided to drive to Gentry, Arkansas and go through the Wildlife Drive Through Safari. The safari was very neat and will probably be somewhere we continue to go as Connor gets older and can enjoy it more! The animals come right up to your car so you are definitely glad to have the window separating you from the animals! There was an area with baby animals, kangaroos, and some random birds. We even got to be up close and personal with the kangaroos! It was a very neat experience!!!

Easter Weekend

We had a wonderful Easter weekend! Our friends, Bre, Tim, and Caden came down to help celebrate Connor's birthday so we had the pleasure of having Easter with them! We dyed eggs Saturday night and then the Easter Bunny came to visit the boys on Easter Sunday! Caden was so surprised that the Easter Bunny found him in Arkansas! Connor didn't really get the idea of finding the eggs but he enjoyed throwing them! We had a nice Easter dinner and enjoyed spending time with The Sullivans!

Connor's 1st Birthday!!!

Connor celebrated his first birthday on April 2nd! He had a Curious George themed party and it turned out very cute! My friend's sister made Curious George invitations and a matching shirt, they were adorable!! Connor seemed to have a great time! He wasn't really into the cake but he at least tasted it! He, of course, got a lot of wonderful presents from friends and family! His favorite present was probably his stacking rings that he constantly carries around - everywhere!!!
We can't believe it's been a year already! It seems like we have had him forever but time has really flown by! We are VERY thankful for the happy and relatively healthy boy we have today! He's been through so much and is one tough little boy!

Christmas Pictures

This was Connor's first official photo shoot! With everything that happened when he was born and with the heart surgery, we didn't really get a chance to get his pictures taken. So, finally at almost 8 months old we had pictures taken! He did wonderful and we think the pictures turned out really well!

Christmas

We enjoyed an almost two week vacation to Kansas over the holidays! It was great to get back and see family and for Connor to be able to see his grandparents! Unfortunately, Connor began to get sick at the very beginning of our trip. After taking him to the doctor (ER) 3 times (we knew he was very sick but couldn't get them to do the RSV test) he was diagnosed with RSV. RSV is awful and definitely not fun for anyone. With the breathing treatments he started to feel a little better - thank goodness! We hated that he wasn't his normal happy self while we were home but we were still thankful to be able to see everyone. Connor also got his first tooth over Christmas!! We thought maybe because we live in Arkansas that he wasn't going to get any teeth... :-)!!!

Updates....

Ok, so we haven't updated the blog in awhile - sorry! I am determined to get caught up today! We hope you enjoy reading about our lives, mostly Connor!!
